[ INFOGRAPHIC ] $83.8 Billion Back-to-School Shopping Spree

It started today — for us.

It may have already started for you. If not, it will soon.

I’m talking about the return of students to campus!

It’s time for another academic year to begin — which likely means that there will be a trip (or two — or more) made to the mall, the grocery store, and/or the local Walmart in order to get everything they’ll need to be successful in the year ahead!

And as new and returning students prepare to move to campus, and we prepare to help them lug their belongings from car to room, here’s some insight into what we might be carrying (not to mention the kind of money students — or their parents — will be spending):

Do You Know About Prezi?

Do you know about Prezi.com?

It’s not brand new, I think I’ve been using it for about a year now — and for some reason it just dawned on me that I should share about it here, in case YOU haven’t ever experienced it.

Why?

Because it has totally revolutionized the way I do presentations (sorry if this sounds like an infomercial — I just like sharing cool stuff with cool people).

What is it?

Do You Have An APP For That?

For the past several years our ministries have been challenged to consider how to better reach — and connect with — an increasingly digital world.

From websites to blogs, to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIN and Pinterest accounts, online registration and release forms, images and videos — even live streaming.

In many ways it’s felt necessary to obtain additional degrees in web management and social media strategy to co-inside with the ministry degrees many of us hold.

And things continue to grow and change in this area.

Do You Know About PicMonkey?

Do you know about PicMonkey.com?

It’s a great, (and I think) relatively new, online photo editing site.

AND IT’S FREE!

I don’t know about you — but as a ministry leader, I regularly find myself in situations where I’m wanting to add text to an image, create poster (that doesn’t look like it was created by a 3rd grader), manipulate photos to enhance a webpage, etc. — but have lacked the expensive software and/or know how.

Well, thanks to PicMonkey.com, that’s all changed!

We Should Hangout More Often

I can’t quite recall when the switch happened, but it was probably 4 or 5 years into my college ministry career when I started to look forward to conference more for the relational connections than for the conference content.

Do you know what I meant?

There’s just something about being with people who get what we do that’s so significant, so generative.

People of similar heart and mind, who feel called to reach college students with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
