I got the chance to share with some 2nd year Vanderbilt Divinity School students yesterday about social media, blogging and ministry.
It got me to thinking about the catalyst behind the creation of faithoncampus.com… and thought that some of you might be interested.
So here you go… some snippets from my very first blog post. I updated a few things to make it current, but the bulk of the content is unchanged. I hope you enjoy!

I was challenged yesterday to consider a new venue (for my thinking and blogging)…
One that would explore (hopefully with others) campus ministry and the lives of those who are called into this unique field.
The catalyst?
A great coffee conversation with Benson Hines – a HUGE advocate for campus ministry — and he was able to convince me that I needed to join with him in seeing the field (of campus ministry) continue to further in its development.
Neither one of us are quite sure what we have to offer… but we’re both willing to do whatever we can…
In (the past) 12 years (now 14.5) I’ve served on 4 different campuses, representing 3 different denominations, and have had the pleasure of working with a host of great people… (all) while seeing ministry done in a number of different ways.
I hope this blog will be more than just a space for me to reflect on what I’ve learned… and am learning…
I hope it will become a space that campus ministers around the globe will choose to visit, find encouragement from, share their wisdom through, and grow in our interconnectedness to one another as we serve the mission of Christ in the unique environment that is the university campus.
May this space be a place where God speaks to, and through, all who might choose to visit!
Thanks in advance to all who will add to this space, and the work of God, all around the world.

I continue to be both surprised and humbled by all of the great conversations that take place here.
SO many of you have added to the ways I think about, and work with, college students! And for that I am eternally grateful!
May God’s grace and peace be with you all as your terms end!
May Christ reveal Himself to you in new and powerful ways this Christmas season!
And may you find the rest and rejuvenation you need for ministry in the new year!
