78% of You Just Heard That…

Did you hear it?

Just now…

When you flipped the calendar from July to August…

By my estimation approximately 78% of you — of us — just heard that boulder drop from the sky somewhere behind us. And we know it’s now rolling our way…

It’s the start of a new academic year fast-approaching.

And it sounds and feels a lot like this:

Are you with me?

Do you feel the weight and pressure of that giant boulder that is the new academic year — now nipping at your heels and forcing you to tend to all of those things that you’ve been putting off all summer — until now.

Unofficially, 78% of us are now on the run. Sprinting for our life — until the very moment students begin to show up on campus.

Unofficially, 12% of us just went into the fetal position and are now curled up on the floor, under the desk.

Unofficially, 5% of us are in total denial about our current reality.

Unofficially, 4% of us have yet to realize that it’s now August — and there’s now something rapidly approaching.

And unofficially, 1% of us are sitting back in our chair, with a big grin on our face, confident in how we spent our summer and feeling that plans for the upcoming year are all but tied up.

Unofficially.

I don’t know about you, but regardless of how I spend my summers, every year — as I flip the calendar page to August — I feel like my life is transported into this scene from Indian Jones and the Last Crusade.

It feels like there is suddenly so much to do — and so little time within which to do it.

Some of this is warranted.

Some of it is in my head.

And some of it is just plain silly.

Regardless — this is where I often find myself on August 1st.

Can you relate?
